Our expert team guides clients through complex authorisation procedures and regulatory issues, relieving their burden and ensuring safe, compliant access to the skies.

WARNING! In Hungary, two separate registrations are required to operate a drone! Under EU regulations, a „drone operator” registration is required, and under Hungarian law, a „drone registration” is required. If multiple drones are in use, only one EU operator number is required; in Hungary, however, each drone must be registered separately based on its serial number!

 

UAS AND OPERATOR REGISTRATION IN HUNGARY

So all drones that meet any of the following conditions must be registered:

  • cannot be classified as a toy under EU directives, or
  • manufactured for children over 14 years of age
  • has a take-off weight of more than 120 grams, or
  • has a data recorder, or
  • flies more than 100 metres from the remote pilot.

In other words, if only one of the above conditions is met, registration is already mandatory in Hungary. Registration, i.e. the registration of drones and operators, can be done at the hungarian aviation authority.

Important Notice: 

Légter.hu is not the Hungarian Aviation Authority. We are an independent, private company offering drone regulatory consulting and airspace management services to support drone pilots and operators in Hungary. All services are fee-based.

We provide professional consultation on topics beyond our standard services—such as UAS operator registration or airspace request services) – at a rate of €100 + VAT per 2 hours. Consultation is invoiced in advance and billed in fixed 2-hour blocks.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE FOR OPERATORS AND DRONES

In Hungary, the necessary forms can be sent to the Hungarian aviation authority by post or, more simply, in electronic e-paper form. Unfortunately, a Hungarian digital identifier is required for electronic registration, so foreign citizens can only register by post or through Légtér.hu Ltd.

The  service fees applied by légtér.hu ltd for the registration process (Price list)

  • Drone registration for EU citizens or operators already holding an EU operator registration: 15.000 HUF + 27% VAT
  • Full registration for non EU citizens or operators (Drone and operator registration): 25.000 HUF + 27% VAT

Additional fees payable to the national authority

  • Drone registration: 2.000 HUF
  • Registration of operator: 2000 HUF

The official procedure fee is payable in addition to the service fees of Légtér.hu Ltd.
